Position Overview
A reliable and flexible nanny is needed for our client family in Brooklyn Heights as part of a nanny/manny team. This part-time position offers consistent Monday and Tuesday coverage with the flexibility to provide additional hours on short notice as needed.
Schedule & Location
Monday and Tuesday, 2:00 PM - 9:00 PM (14 hours/week), with availability to stay late on short notice when needed. Schedule flexibility available for two consecutive weekdays (Monday-Tuesday, Tuesday-Wednesday, Wednesday-Thursday, or Thursday-Friday). Care will be provided for daughter (5) from 2:00-7:00 PM, then son (8) joins after 7:00 PM. Located in Brooklyn Heights with school pick-up from daughter's school. Flexible start date.
Responsibilities
School pick-up for daughter (5) from school
Afterschool care and supervision for daughter from 2:00 PM - 7:00 PM
Care for both children from 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM when son (8) joins
Dinner preparation and feeding
Homework assistance and educational support
Bedtime routines and evening care
Facilitate age-appropriate activities and emotional regulation support
Support creative expression and developmental activities
Maintain children's spaces and organize play areas
Light tidying related to children's activities
Provide additional coverage on short notice as family needs arise
Requirements
Minimum 3+ years of professional childcare experience or adjacent field
Experience working with twice exceptional (2E) children strongly preferred
Current CPR certification required
College education preferred
Patient, understanding, and skilled in emotional regulation techniques
Excellent communication skills with both children and parents
High flexibility and availability to stay late on short notice
Reliable transportation and ability to respond quickly to schedule changes
Legal authorization to work in the United States
Strong references that can attest to reliability and specialized childcare skills
Compensation & Benefits
Hourly rate: $40/hour
Guaranteed hours for regular Monday/Tuesday schedule
Overtime rate (1.5x) for hours worked over 40 per week
Paid time off on federal holidays that fall on regular work days
